The Lectio Series

The Lectio Series is a semi-annual symposium on spiritual theology hosted by the St Benedict Center. Keynote speakers address varied topics on spiritual formation and the inner life. Lectio events will be held in the spring and the fall each year.

Turning Pain Into Pilgrimage: Meditations from Psalm 84

The Revd Dr Michael Lloyd, Keynote Speaker

The St Benedict Center welcomes the Revd Dr Michael Lloyd, Principal of Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford, as the keynote speaker for our upcoming Lectio Series event. Dr Lloyd has taught theology at Cambridge University, St Paul’s Theological Centre, and the University of Oxford. His particular interests are: the problem of pain; the problem of evil; and theology and music. He is the author of Cafe Theology: Exploring Love, the Universe and Everything.

Come join us for what promises to be an encouraging and enlightening evening meditating on Scripture and our Christian experience. Dr Lloyd’s lecture will be a timely address as Christians walk the way of the cross with Jesus this Lenten season.

Inaugural Lectio Event, October 2021

The theme of our first Lectio event was The Gift of Liturgy for Spiritual Formation. We hosted the Revd. Dr. Winfield Bevins as our first keynote speaker for The Lectio Series. Winfield is the author of several books, the most recent of which is Ever Ancient, Ever New: The Allure of Liturgy for a New Generation. Winfield shared his thoughts on the four-fold movement of liturgy to shape us for spiritual formation in mission.
